Prone Outfitters

Texas Varmint Hunts

Prone Outfitters Texas varmint hunts consist of two main styles which we have defined as Predator and Small Varmint. Explained in detail below, Prone’s Predator Hunts focus on Coyote, Bobcat, and Grey Fox, while the Small Varmint Hunts focus on ten species of smaller varmints.

Though you are allowed to harvest any of the thirteen species, the way in which we hunt is mostly defined through these two hunting styles.

Predator Hunting

Prone’s predator hunts consist of several 15 – 30 minute stands in the morning, evening, and night. The main focus will be Coyote, Grey Fox, and/or Bobcat, but you are welcome to harvest pigs or other small varmints as well.

Because of past experience, your guide will be following your shots every time. Most shots are within 50 yards, leaving you ZERO time to screw around. Five seconds to shoulder the gun, find the moving target, and pull the trigger is extremely generous. We HIGHLY recommend mimicking the above sentence on the practice range before you arrive.

Small Varmint Hunting

Prone’s small varmint hunts take place solely at night. Bring your .22 and several hundred rounds, along with one big gun in case we run into pigs or other large predators.

You will get a TON of trigger time on this varmint hunt! It is a perfect hunt for beginners learning to shoot, as well as experienced and corporate groups.
